How to Change Screen Timeout on iPhone

You can change the screen timeout on your iPhone to adjust how long the device will wait before it automatically turns off the display. Here are the steps to change the screen timeout on your iPhone:

  1. Open the “Settings” app on your iPhone.
  2. Scroll down and tap “Display & Brightness”.
  3. Tap “Auto-Lock”.
  4. Choose the amount of time you want to wait before the screen times out and turns off. The options available are: 30 seconds, 1 minute, 2 minutes, 3 minutes, 4 minutes, 5 minutes, and “Never” (which will keep the screen on until you manually turn it off).
  5. After selecting the desired screen timeout duration, exit the settings app to save the changes.

Note that changing the screen timeout will help to conserve battery life on your iPhone and also prevent unauthorized access to your device in case you forget to lock it.

Why can’t I change my screen timeout iPhone?

If you’re having trouble changing the screen timeout on your iPhone, it could be due to a number of reasons. Here are a few things you can check:

  1. Make sure that your iPhone is up to date with the latest version of iOS. Go to Settings > General > Software Update to check for any available updates.
  2. Check that you’re in the correct settings menu. The screen timeout settings can be found in Settings > Display & Brightness > Auto-Lock.
  3. Make sure that you’re not in Low Power Mode, which can automatically reduce the screen timeout to save battery life. You can check this by going to Settings > Battery and toggling off Low Power Mode.
  4. If you’re using an iPhone with Face ID, make sure that Attention Aware Features are turned on. This feature uses facial recognition to keep the screen from dimming or turning off when you’re looking at it. You can check this by going to Settings > Face ID & Passcode and turning on Attention Aware Features.
  5. If none of the above steps work, try restarting your iPhone by holding down the power button and swiping to power off. Then turn it back on again and see if you’re able to change the screen timeout settings.

If you’re still having trouble, it may be worth contacting Apple support for further assistance.
